Alexander J. Kochan, Charlie Considers My Outfit

Without warning and with a rush of unexpected intensity I began painting at 50. The first piece, a crude scribble was made by slashing at cheap paper propped on a cheap easel with a set of cheap oil pastels. I pushed the soft crayon-like sticks with such force onto the paper they crumbled and broke. Throughout, however, I was exhilarated and thought I might have actually been smiling.

At 50 I discovered weird art dwelling inside of me and was fucking pleased it was about to come out.

Kevin Brannaman, Bunny #1 Self Portait

Ruby Lindner , Still Life for Canine

My art work has ranged widely from small, highly-detailed colored pencil pieces to large, heavily-layered acrylics, the chosen medium depending on both the subject and the feel that I am aiming to achieve.  Although I enjoy painting a variety of subjects, still life paintings have always held a special place in my heart both as a viewer and as an artist.

When considering how to approach Still Life for Canine, the choice to work with pastel was immediately obvious. Pastel has a tactile quality that ideally lends itself to the recreation of the objects presented in the piece.

Anisa Romero, Egg

My work ia an exploration of personal symbolism. I delve into iconography that is known and unknown, referencing a collective-unconscious image bank. I am interested in the relationship of subject to ground, shape and color and how these elements effect another.

Edwin Fotheringham, Doggies

Edwin Fotheringham spent his formative years in Sydney, Australia, and was educated at the University of Washington School of Art in Seattle, where he lives today with his family.

Mr. Fotheringham made a career change from fine artist/stockboy to illustrator in 1992. It was a golden moment in Seattle's pop-cultural history: the nation's psyche was focused on some grubby music types, and all that they touched. Having certain band members as housemates afforded Mr. Fotheringham the opportunity to illustrate their CD covers.
